Welcome to Wyaralong – Introductory Offer

We recognise that the community is very keen to experience the new facilities at Wyaralong. As an introductory measure, there will be no fees payable to camp at the designated sites at the Eastern Trailhead camping area or the Mt Joyce Base Camp campsite at Wyaralong Dam. During this introductory period camping will be self-managed, without bookings, on a first-in best-served basis. Camping will only be permitted at the designated campsites within the Mt Joyce Recreation Park. There will be a maximum stay of seven (7) nights at the campsites so that all members of the community are able to experience the facilities.

Mt Joyce Recreation Park is a multi-user facility suitable for families through to thrill-seeking recreation enthusiasts; whether for an overnight stay or longer.

Three separate camping areas provide visitors with remote, rugged camping experiences or family friendly camping grounds.

The Eastern Trailhead, located near the dam wall, provides visitors with the opportunity to view the Wyaralong Dam wall via a viewing platform and explore the shoreline or Mountain Bike Trails. A series of multi-user (pedestrian, mountain bike and horse)trails venture west from the Eastern Trailhead, including pedestrian access to Mt Joyce.

The Western Trailhead (also known as Lilybrook), caters primarily for horse enthusiasts with holding paddocks, watering areas and loading ramps. Camping facilities are available for event use only at this stage and include a cleared area suitable for large groups. Toilets, showers, picnic tables, shelter and barbecues are available on site.

The Mt Joyce Base Camp campsite in the centre of the park includes open camping areas, a toilet, a simple shelter shed and water tanks. Walking enthusiasts and trail runners  could utilise this site as a base before summiting Mt Joyce. The Mt Joyce Base Camp campsite is a remote campsite without vehicular access but can be accessed via the lake.
